I love writing more than anything, well, except cats. Here's one-year-old Chloe who was a scrawny little stray, but she is doing wonderfully well now. She looks like she dipped her nose in a cup of tea, doesn't she? Her owners couldn't be located, so I took her in, and she has made the pandemic isolation so much easier--as I know pets have done for so many of us.

I was a lit professor for many years, and reading and writing are my passions. As Emily Dickinson said:

There is no Frigate like a Book

To take us Lands away . . .

The land I like my readers to be immersed in

is the 19th century, where I have "lived" for ages while teaching and studying and writing. My biographies focus primarily on figures from that period, and my historical mysteries are set in the 1880s.

But I'm not always lost in another century. I am currently working on a contemporary crime novel, so watch for that soon, too.
